Corydoras Barbatus 4cm Catfish

Overview: The Corydoras Barbatus, also known as the Bearded Cory, is a unique and charming freshwater fish, cherished for its distinctive appearance and peaceful nature. It’s particularly recognized for its elongated barbels, resembling a beard, and its attractive, armored body that can reach up to 3 inches in length. Ideal for community tanks, these sociable bottom dwellers are excellent scavengers and keep the substrate clean.

Origin: Native to the fast-flowing rivers and streams of South America, particularly in Brazil, the Corydoras Barbatus thrives in environments with lots of hiding spots and a sandy or fine gravel substrate, mimicking their natural habitat.

Feeding: As omnivores, Corydoras Barbatus are not picky eaters. They readily accept a variety of foods including high-quality sinking pellets, flakes, freeze-dried bloodworms, and daphnia. Occasional treats of live or frozen foods like brine shrimp can also be provided for a balanced diet.

Tank Mates: Peaceful and adaptable, the Bearded Cory gets along well with most non-aggressive fish. Ideal tank mates include small to medium-sized tetras, rasboras, and other peaceful community fish. They do best in groups of at least six, as they are a schooling species and enjoy the company of their own kind.

Aggression: These fish are known for their gentle and passive nature. They show no aggression towards other tank mates, making them a perfect addition to a peaceful community aquarium.

Experience Level: Corydoras Barbatus is suitable for aquarists of all experience levels. They are particularly recommended for beginners due to their hardy nature and easy care requirements.
